Puerto Vallarta!!

Last Supper in Nuevo Vallarta
Mexico City Airport
In our hotel room in Mexico City at 3:30 AM

So I know this blog is way past due, and we apologize.  We have both managed to overbook each other for social occasions and are slammed at work.

Not a good combo after missing a day of work due to our cancelled flight in Mexico City.

Happy Part of the Story:
-6 nights in Nueva Vallarta (20 min outside Puerto Vallarta)
-BEAUTIFUL 90+ degree weather
-Stay: Grand Mayan Palace (note: must go back, nicest resort EVER)
-Water play: Replica Mayan Ruin TEMPLE made into a water slide, 2 wave pools, floating river, and THE OCEAN.  I swam in the ocean then ran to the pools...that close. SO awesome.

Not So Good Part:
-Sunday: Flight from Puerto Vallarta to Mexico City
-Once landed....15 minutes to make connecting flight in another SECTION of the airport
-GET there...only to see 100+ peeps standing around looking confused and not boarding
-Proceed to delay...delay...delay..AND delay to the point they kick us out of the gate because of another flight.  Tell us to come back 1 1./2 hours for update
-Come back, no news...then look at the reader board and it says SEATTLE CANCELLED. They didn't even bother to announce it.
-Everyone makes a mad rush to info counter.  They tell us to exit the boarding area and go back to the check-in area to get more info on a flight they are adding for us in the morning.
-ANOTHER mad rush to Aeromexico counter.  We are one of the first in line. By this time everyone is real pissed off. Tons of families on our flight with kids who have school, parents who have work, and even college students who were worried about their classes. Must not be WSU kids:)
-Get THIS: Aeromexico ticket counter HAS NO IDEA what we are talking about and do not know anything about a "new" flight to Seattle in the morning.  At this point I don't know if I should cry or choke someone.  He then leaves to go and talk to a supervisor.  I think, good idea or you're about to have a riot of angry Seattlites climbing your ticket counter.
-Comes back and tell us to come back at 5 am so they can re-issue us all new tickets for a new flight...not sure about the time though.  OH and by the way...you have to leave this area as the airport closes its boarding area at 11:30pm.  He then tells us to get out of line and that there are "economic - by the hour hotels close by." AT this point..I realized we are stuck in the largest city in the world, with no resources and need a place to sleep.  ICK.
-Sooooo, (trying to wrap this up) we are at a loss with the first three hotels we approached.  Didn't realize MADONNA was in town.  Seriously, can anything else go wrong at this point?
-Finally find one.  Paid waaay too much for the concrete slab we slept on.  Only to have to get up at 3:30 AM to get ready and shuttled back to the airport to be one of the first in line to get out tickets.
-FLIGHT left at 7:30am.  Which meant in Seattle time we were really up at 1:30am and didn't back to Wenatchee until 4:00pm. LONG LONG DAY.

Moral of the story: NEVER ever book on cheaptickets.com.  It was a last minute thing that we booked on there.  There were no other flights available.  Next time, this will mean we just don't go.  What a nightmare.  Honestly, of all the traveling we have done, I have never wanted to be home so bad.  God Bless America.

PS....flight was cancelled due to fog......................

Oh holy moly! That is scary to be stuck like that in any country that is not your own.

The pictures are great though and it looks like a beautiful, wonderful time. We want to head to Mexico in the spring...maybe I'll take you up on your hotel recommendation.

Yikes! I've heard soooo many horror stories about cheaptikets.com - I'm so sorry that you're now a part of that group. I'm just happy that you guys made it home and are safe in the good ol' USofA :) Maybe Madonna would have left you two stay in her room?? just a thought that you probably forgot to consider ha!
